SHOES UNDER (As Seen On TV)

Most people love to shop for shoes and I am not an exemption to this. The hard thing about having many shoes is the place to store them specially if you have limited space. Recently, SHOES UNDER was being introduced not only to organize your favorite shoes but to protect it from dust and dirt. It is made of quality and breathable materials. It has a sturdy nylon handle, zipper see-through cover, super lightweight and durable too.
It holds 12 pairs of shoes and you can place "Shoes Under" in the closet, slides under your bed or anywhere you need extra storage. It is also great to store your socks, belts and any other accessories you wanted to.

I got one of this "Shoe Under". It is really nice but I have a hard time storing my boots because I need to remove one or more dividers in order to accommodate it. Remember, before storing your shoes, don't forget to clean it first and make sure it's dry. Shoes Under is not machine washable or dry. You can clean it by simply using a damp cloth.
I bought my shoes under in BedBath and Beyond for $9.99 each. Check it out cause you may like it.

PHOTO TAG AND LOVELY BLOG AWARD

One day ago, my friend Shimumsy tagged me regarding my tenth photo in my photo file folder. Thanks for this tag friend.
Since I have almost 50 photo file folders and the first folder has only 9 pictures, I decided to post a photo from my 10th folder and the tenth photo.
If I am not mistaken, this picture was taken almost a year ago probably August 2008 when me, my hubby and Bones our dog visited our friend Gina and Bob in Hesperia California. This photo is very memorable because it's my first time seeing Gina here in the U.S. Would you believed that Gina was my classmate since elementary, high school and college in the Philippines? We're almost two years living in the US without knowing that we live only an hour and a half away from each other. Thanks to Friendster for uniting us again.
We did a lot of things while we were together. We sung karaoke, ate filipino foods, went to the mall and of course the never-ending gossiping...hehhehehe..As you can see, we both have a big smile. Once in a while we still see each other whether in her place or in our place. The last time I've seen her was on May 31 during our arrival here in LAX Airport from our two weeks trip together to the Philippines.

I would like to see what my friends can share and show to us regarding their 10th photo that they will find in their photo file folder: Becka of Cacai's Step and Journey;  Rossel of Topics on Earth; Grace of My Wedding Day; Herby of My Second Trial; Gab's Mom of Full Time Mom; Bill of My Piece of Paradise; Yen of Heavenly Delight; Himalman of Sound of a Soft Breath; Definitive Dog of  Life with Dogs ; Samantha of Holly and Zac and their adventures; bnetb of Tanahabang ; Imelda of My Daily Thoughts and Moods ; Mariuca of Mariuca; Dhemz of My Life's Perception and Inspiration; Nenette of Nenette's Niche and Alleth of My Simple Life.

THE KING OF POP, MICHAEL JACKSON DIED AT 50

Who haven't known Michael Jackson? I bet many people all over the world from young teens to adult known the music icon especially when he started his solo career. He is known as the King of Pop because of his remarkable success in the music industry. It's been a shocked when the news reported that Michael was dead from a suspected cardiac arrest today, June 25, 2009. According to his brother Jermaine Jackson, Michael's physician was with him at the time of his suspected cardiac arrest and both the paramedics and the physician transported Michael to the UCLA Medical Center and they attempted to revive Michael.
Upon arriving at UCLA Medical Center, a team of doctors including a cardiologists attempted to revive him for more than an hour but they were unsuccessful.  Although Michael's death was suspected from a cardiac arrest but the official cause of his death is not yet known and the LAPD was still investigating Michael's death because of his high profile and will have his body autopsy this coming friday.
When I was a kid and until now I am a big fan of Michael. I like his musics and his dance moves that undoubtedly make him very famous. Not only that he also made headlines because of his trial and acquittal for child molestation charges.
I really do love the song "Heal the World" sung by Michael because of the messages it implied. Although it's been years since I first heard that song but until now whenever I heard it, I can't help but to sing it.
Michael.....you will always be remembered....

IS THAT YOU BONES?

Few months ago while browsing our old photos, I saw this one of me and Bones who was probably two months old at the time. Since I can still lift him by that time, I often craddle him in my arms until he fall asleep. I told my husband to take a picture of me and Bones so that I can keep it and will remind me of him when he was a pup.

Bones grows so fast that I can't even lift him because he is huge and almost weigh as much as me. He did not eat that much. We only gave him from 3 to 4 cups a day and most of the time he will not finish his meal. He is very lean yet full of energy. He always wants to play specially throwing his tennis ball. Well, he is still in his prime and he wanted to release his energy.

The recent picture on the left side is just for fun. We just wanted to have proof how huge is Bones a year after that photo of me and him on the left side was taken. I was laughing while my husband took our picture because as you can see Bones is almost as big as me. Way to go Bones. Hope you have more years to come.

MY FIRST AWARD

YOUR BLOG MAKES US SMILE AWARD

I was so touched when I received this award from Becka of Cacai's Step and Journey. Eversince April 2009, when I got started blogging, nobody ever sent me an award and that's the reason why I felt deeply honored for this one.  Although I was not able to grab this award immediately because of my hectic schedule at work, doing my responsibilities at home, taking care of my husband who is sick and the best reason at all is I don't know how to post it....( that's sad...sigh). So, without hestation I immediately went to Becka's blog and post a message on her cbox about my problem and presto! she sent me an message on how to post it. Thank you so much Beck for everything.
I would like also to pass this award to my friends, Rossel of Topics on Earth; Grace of My Wedding Day; Herby of My Second Trial; Gab's Mom of Full Time Mom; Bill of My Piece of Paradise; Yen of Heavenly Delight; Himalman of Sound of a Soft Breath; Definitive Dog of  Life with Dogs ; Samantha of Holly and Zac and their adventures; bnetb of Tanahabang ; Imelda of My Daily Thoughts and Moods ; Shimumsy of Republic of A and Alleth of My Simple Life.

Please visit my hubby's website.

This picture was taken in Yosemite National Park. This park is very beautiful. If you have time try visiting it one day and you will be amazed by it's beauty.

Me and my husband loves to travel and take pictures. If we have a day or two off at work we usually went to a place where we can enjoy and takes picture of our mother nature. Of course, our big, black, boy dog, Bones is going with us too. My husband likes doing Landscape Photography. BONES

This picture of Bones was taken before last christmas. The background was a part of an artificial christmas tree that we bought at home depot. Bones is very curious dog. Whenever he saw something new he will always eager to search it. While I am putting the tree trunk together, Bones had lied down on the floor next to the unfinished christmas tree and watching what I am doing. For fun, my husband grabbed the camera and took picture of him. It really came out good, Isn't it?

THANK YOU!

Although I've been blogging for more or less three months but I have a lot of things I am not familiar with especially with all the terms used by bloggers or even ways to promote and increase my rating. I tried to search online but my time is very limited since I worked 5 days in a week as an full-time employee, I am a wife and I have responsibility to fulfill with. Slowly, I've learned something and wanted to improve it.

I am so grateful to Rebecca of Cacai's Step and Journey for helping me out. She is also the one who encouraged me to blog. Whenever I have questions, she is a one dial away and very eager to help me. She also told me once that she had a friend that told her that we can make templates from Photoshop. Becka (Rebecca) told me that she cannot shared something  about making templates in photoshop because she haven't tried it yet and she did not have the software.

Since my husband has Adobe Photoshop CS3 I am very curious about making templates and used it in changing the lay-out of my blog. I've been searching on the internet on how to make templates in photoshop but I can't get an information that I really am looking for. Maybe you folks can help me or give me a link that I can be used in making templates.

To Rebecca, thanks for extending your helping hands to me. I really do appreciate it a lot.

LAKERS WIN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP!

Honestly, I was not able to watch game 5 of the NBA finals because I was working from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm. I really wanted to watch the game but I have also a duty that I need to fulfill. But I asked my husband to give me as much details as he can so that I can write it in my blog and share it with all my friends and viewers.
Before the start of the game, there were speculation that Orlando Magic had a great chance to win the game 5 in the sense that it is their last chance to get the NBA championship title. Although they were ahead by 2 points in the first quarter, the Lakers tried very hard to surpass the Magic's score and they made it starting the second quarter and through remainder of the game thanks to the excellent play of Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza.
Here's the recap of tonight's final game:

                     1st     2nd     3rd     4th     Total
Magic            28     18       15       25        86
Lakers           26     30       20       23        99

Kobe Bryant who scored 30 pts., 6 rebounds, 5 assist, 2 steals and 2 blocks was voted as the Most Valuable Player. Bryant has now stepped out of his former teammates' shadow, by winning the NBA  title without Shaquille O'Neal.  On the other hand, Phil Jackson, the Lakers' coach is now considered the best coach in playoff history for winning 10 championship titles.

CONGRATULATIONS LAKERS! You deserve it. To the Orlando Magic, I know how hard it is to accept defeat but the Lakers proved they were the best team. Somebody will win and somebody will lose. There is always next year. See you at the next NBA Season!

THE CONVERSION FROM ANALOG TO DIGITAL

June 12, 2009 was the analog TV conversion to digital. If you had cable you do not need to worry about this conversion because this only affects people who uses an antenna or rabbit ears in watching TV. In order to still watch TV, users should buy a converter box, or a TV set with a digital tuner, or get cable. The good thing about cable is that you can get more channels with high definition (HD).  Although with the transition from analog to digital, using the converter box will also give you HD but with limited channels. But if you were satisfied with fewer channels including the major ones like NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX and etc, then the converter box is right for you. You just need to buy the box for around $59.99 and with a Federal coupon of $40, we only paid $19.99 but now that the government is no longer issuing the coupon, you may want to try buying a cheaper converter box online. Remember you still need your antenna to get reception. Using the rabbit ears may only give you fewer channels than a roof antenna.

When you have the converter box and you are already connected but you have problems of having no signal with your favorite channels try pressing the menu button on your new remote control that came with the box. After that press auto scan or auto tuning and wait until it finishes scanning and then press again the menu button to return to normal viewing. Since we have an INSIGNIA NS-DXA1-APT converter box, there might be a different process if you have a different brand. If you have any inquiries about the conversion go to the Federal Communications Commission's website or contact them at 1-888-TELL-FCC.

CALLING CARD FOR LONG DISTANCE

Calling my family, relatives and friends to the Philippines is very expensive. In this case, I try as much as possible to call them once in awhile because of the higher rates. Every month our telephone bill is quite too high. That's why we decided to try using calling card instead of our landline. But choosing a cheaper card is not that easy. We wanted something that doesn't have a lot of hidden fees, something that's reliable and convenient. After visiting several websites, we finally found one that we really like at callingcards.com . The calling card is rechargeable, it has no connection fee, billing increment is 3 minutes, Maintenance fee: $.99, communication fee: 15%, payphone surcharge: $.99, expiration date: 1 year and the denominations are $10, $20 and $50. Since I only used the $20 denomination I knew that it is good for 196 minutes if you called the Philippines. For us that's fair enough and cheaper compare to what we paid in our landline for long distance call.

In addition also, you can use the card in any countries in the world. I suggest that you better have a watch in front of you when you called abroad because the calling increments is 3 minutes. So if you talked your family for 4 minutes it will deduct to your remaining balance as 6 minutes.

If you want more information you can visit at the calling card website . If you have a better deal in your calling card or landline than what I got, please feel free to share it with us. Have fun calling your family and friends without throwing away your money. Try and see if for yourself!

LAKERS DID IT AGAIN!

The Los Angeles Lakers who now have won 3 games are one win away for winning the NBA title. Derek Fisher who shot a 3 pointer in the fourth quarter with about 6 seconds left with a score of 87-87 enabled the Lakers to go into overtime. During the first half, Lakers were struggling to surpass the Magic. But with a few minutes left in the third quarter, the Lakers made several points and even surpassed the Magic.

During the overtime play, both teams were trying very hard to score and win the game. With 31 seconds left in overtime, Fisher made another 3 pointer and gave the Lakers the win with a final score of 99-91.

Here's the recap of tonight's game:
                  1st     2nd     3rd      4th   OT     Total
Lakers        20       17       30      20    12        99
Magic         24       25       14       24      4        91

Game 5 will be held again on the Magic's home court this Sunday, June 14, 2009 at 5 p.m. PST. The Magic should try their best to win the 5th game so that they can return to Los Angeles and still have a chance to win the NBA title. For the Laker's fans, there is a reason to be happy and gay because if the Lakers will win game 5 they will win the title.

To both teams, good luck and see you on Sunday!

OUR GARDEN

If I am not mistaken, most people want to have a garden, a beautiful garden but the question is, how to maintain it. Here in the United States it's very expensive to have a garden because you need to plant a certain kind of flowers and vegetables depending of the season. We have four seasons, namely Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. For instance, a flower that's for summer will bloom by summer and maybe up to the Fall but will die or will be dormant during winter season. These are called annuals. When you buy a certain plant you need to follow the instructions on how to plant and how to care for it because if you fail,  you will come up with an unhealthy plant. You also need mulch to insulate and enrich the soil. Recently mulch manufacturers use shredded wood and dye them to improve their appearance when you put it around the plants.
One way my husband does this in order to minimize our expenses for our garden, we bought plants that are perennial although we still have annual plants. We also bought plants with different foliage so that our garden will look colorful even during the dormant (winter) season. We have vegetables like tomatoes, artichokes, eggplant and sweet potato. Also, we have herbs like basil, rosemary and cilantro. Aside from that we also have chili pepper, bell pepper, lemon grass and scallion.
Recently we have a new landscape to our garden because our dog, Bones ruined our grass and some of our plants we had before. When he gets excited he runs around our lawn many times in order to release his energy. Right now, with a new lawn we try to discourage him to play or lay down on the grass. We have a stone path for him to walk all the way behind our house for him to do his duty. We are so happy that he is very smart in following the path even if he does not see us watching him.
Here are some of the pictures of our backyard garden:

LIP LINER

Like many other women, I used lip liner to define the shape of my lips and to prevent the unwanted spreading of my lipstick or lip gloss. I got a lip liner that was the same color as my lipstick and that was a disaster according to a beauty expert I've seen on one of the popular show on TV. She said that choosing the right color of lip liner is necessary so that it won't look terrible on you. Have you noticed when you used a lip liner and after you drink soda, wine or water the lipstick disappear and the lip liner is the one left and after that the lip liner is very noticeable? Well, you and I had pick the wrong color of a lip liner. According to this beauty expert that when choosing the right color of your lip liner you should pick the one that is exactly or almost the same color as your actual lips so that when we drink even if our lipstick is gone our lips will still look nice and natural.
I haven't changed my lip liner yet but I will so soon. I wanted to try whether what the beauty expert said is right for me. Let's try together and give me your comments about this.

LAKERS VS. MAGIC (Game 3)

Orlando Magic has finally beaten the LA Lakers for the game 3 of the finals which was held at the magic's home court. The final score was 108-104. The game was very tight. The Lakers was having a hard time surpassing the Magic's score after the second quarter. They get closer to even tied the Magic's score but the latter immediately took the Lakers' chance of dominating the game.
Here's the recap of tonight's game:
                  1st      2nd        3rd       4th     Total
Magic        27       32           22        27        108
Lakers      31       23           21        29        104
The NBA Finals result is now 2-1 in favor of the Lakers. The game 4 which will be held in Magic's home court will give them another chance to tie with the Lakers.

THE HONEYMOONERS

It's been quite sometimes since I started watching"The Honeymooners ". It is a comedy television show which was shot before a live audience way back in 1955 to 1956. The main characters of the shows were Jackie Gleason as Ralph, Art Carney as Ed Norton, Audrey Meadows as Alice and Joyce Randolf as Trixie
Few days after I first arrived here in the US, my husband asked me if I like watching comedy shows and of course, I do. He asked me if I had ever seen "The Honeymooners" and honestly, I haven't saw it nor heard the title. When I first saw the sitcom on tape, I thought it was not that funny but after the second time I find it the funniest sitcom I've ever seen in my life. In fact most of the time before me and my husband went to bed we always watched at least one episode of The Honeymooners so that we have a smile in our face before we go to sleep. During also those rough days we had at work, we did often ended up watching The Honeymooners in order to at least divert our mind on something that made us smile.
My husband had purchased the "Classic 39" episodes which considered to be the best. It is in a black and white color because way back then we don't have colored TV. He told me that having this tapes was one of the best investment he had. I don't see why not, because it really made us smile even we've seen all the 39 episodes for many times.
Here are the titles of the 39 episodes:
On Stage                                                       Dial J for Janitor
A Matter of Life and Death                          The Bensonhurst Bomber
The Sleepwalker                                           Please Leave the Premises
Mind your Own Business                             Young Man with a Horn
Pal O' Mine                                                   Head of the House
Funny Money                                               The Loudspeaker
The $99,000 Answer                                    Unconventional Behavior
Trapped                                                         The Deciding Vote
The Worry Wart                                            Something Fishy
Ralph Kramden, Inc.                                     The Man from Space
The Golfer                                                     Hello, Mom
TV or Not TV                                               A Matter of Record
Better Living Through TV                            Here Comes the Bride
Young at Heart                                        'Twas the Night before Christmas
Oh My Aching Back                                     A Woman's Work is Never Done
Pardon My Glove                                          Opportunity Knocks, But
Mama Loves Mambo                                     Brother Ralph
Alice and the Blonde                                     The Safety Award
A Man's Pride                                                A Dog's Life
The Baby-Sitter
"Brother Ralph" episode is considered to be the best in my own point of view.
Friends, try watching the Honeymooners and at least do it twice and you will find it funny and hilarious.

GARAGE SALE

I'd started going to a garage sale more than two years ago. For those who are not familiar what a garage sale means, it is an informal, irregular scheduled event for the sale of used goods by private individuals. Sellers are not required to obtain business  licenses or collect sales tax. Garage Sale also is sometimes known as yard sale, rummage sale, tag sale, attic sale, moving sale or even junk sale.
In our neighborhood, a garage sale is often held on saturday and sometimes sunday. It usually started as early as 7 o'clock in the morning and quite sometimes ended up until 1 o'clock in the afternoon. Goods in a garage sale are typically unwanted items from the household. They are sometimes new, like-new or just usable. The sales venue is usually held in the seller's driveway, garage, carport, front yard and occasionally inside the house.
Some people buy goods from these sales and restore them for resale. Quite often though they bought things  for personal use. Their are also people known as early birds. They are buyers who arrive early before the hour of the sale to review the items.
What I love about garage sale is you can also do bargaining. Most often seller gave you what you want to bargain for. Quite often I ended up buying clothes, shoes, purses, candles, household utensils and more in a very decent, low, low, low prices. Just this last saturday I bought a pair of slightly used shoes, jeans, tank tops and a whole dress. If I am not working on saturday or going some place, you can see me on a neighbor's yard sale going through the things they sale. In fact my husband called me a junky for mostly spending my time on a saturday morning in searching for a garage sale.

Here are some of the shoes that I bought from a garage sale. It is in good quality and in good condition as well.
In the Philippines we have Okay-okay Store (Pronounce as okae-okae...hope I am right). This stores usually sell used goods like clothing, shoes, bags, curtains, rugs, pillows, blankets and more. I have no idea exactly where the sellers of this okay-okay got their goods. If you really have patience in looking for good quality items, you need to spend a lot of your time. But the prices for me are way too high. Most of those shoes on the picture above worth only a buck but in the Philippines probably it will range from 2 dollars and up. I understand that they need to pay the middlemen but it still too expensive.
Maybe others do not like going to a garage sale but I am one of those thousands of people that find it interesting to find a better bargain.

THERE IS MAGIC IN LAKERS (Game 2)

If you are watching tonight's NBA finals (Game 2) you will be of the edge on your seat upon watching the game. Its a head-to-head battle against the Magic and the Lakers. The Lakers again have beaten the Magic for a score of 101-96 after the overtime play.

With 0.6 second left in the 4th quarter (ORL-88;LAL-88), Courtney Lee of Orlando Magic missed a lay up as the regulation ended that would have won the game for the Magic if he made the basket. Kobe Bryant once again was the top scorer for the Lakers with 29 points while Rashard Lewis of Orlando scored 34 points.

Here's the recap for tonight's game (Game 2):

                  1st         2nd     3rd      4th      OT    Total

Magic        15           20       30        23        8        96

Lakers       15          25        23        25       13      101

As you can  remember, the Lakers had a huge double-digit win of 25 points in game 1 last Thursday. Although they had a 5 point lead against the Magic tonight they just barely won and almost lost game 2 if C. Lee did not miss his lay-up.

Another big day for the Lakers and their fans!

AcneFree Clear Skin System

Though I already pass the teenage years but I still suffered from pimples. I had it since I was 16. I already tried many medicine and make-up to get rid and conceal it but it did not work. I am now 28 and even went to the dermatologist to solve this problem but it just keep on coming back.
It's been almost a year or so since the store I am working with started selling this product AcneFree . It did not draw my attention to the fact that its a little bit expensive at around $22. But lately I noticed customers buying this product and I saw several TV commercials for this one. I am still doubtful to try it because I might just be wasting my time and money. Besides also a friend of mine recommended me Proactiv because it works for her. I am leaning on towards trying the Proactiv but I did not find it in any stores. I found out later on that you can only buy it online, meaning you need to pay the shipping charges and its a little bit expensive than AcneFree anyway.
Somewhere around March of 2009 I decided to try AcneFree. I said to myself, if it will not work then thats the time I will try Proactiv. I am really desperate to get rid of my pimples. I bought this product at Bed bath and Beyond and with my 20% off coupon I ended up paying less than $20.
The package came with:
PURIFYING CLEANSER
Its a medicated cleanser with subtle, lightweight microbeads that gently exfoliates and remove pore-clogging dirt, oil and impurities that penetrates deep down to the pores, attacking acne causing bacteria at the source.
Use daily, in the morning and at night before going to bed.

RENEWING TONER
Its a skin-revitalizing toner with vitamins, soothing chamomile and aloe that refreshed and helps balancing your uneven skin tone. It has also pore-refining witch hazel formulation that gently removes dead skin cells and excess surface oil, leaving your skin feeling fresh, clean, soft and perfectly toned.
After using the purifying cleanser, apply toner to entire face with a cotton pad, avoiding eye area. Allow it to dry without rinsing off.
REPAIR LOTION
With Time-Released Benzoyl Peroxide that works 24 hours a day, penetrating  deep within the pores to continuously reduce sebum and attacking the bacteria that causes blemishes and blackheads. Use as directed.
Apply it twice daily in the morning and at night, following toning, avoiding eye area. Allow it to dry without rinsing off.
I did follow the instruction in the box but my face was so irritated. I wanted to quit using AcneFree but I wanted to make sure that I did not miss any information on the label and so I read it once again very carefully and it says there that if constant irritation and dryness happened you will discontinue using it or use it less often. I chose the later and use it every other day and fortunately it works. I see result for a week of using it and its getting better for almost three months of using this product. I still have pimples once in a while but I am really happy with the result. I will continue using it until I still can afford this product and its available in the market. Right now, I use this product twice a day because my face is no longer dry and got irritated. Do not forget also to use sunscreen when you go outside.
Remember, just like most products, do not forget to read the entire label before using AcneFree. It is very important that we should follow the direction to get the better result. There might also be an instance wherein this product works for me and not for you. If it does happen continue searching for a product that will work for you. I tried looking for a product that will help diminish or eliminate my pimples for many years and I finally found the one that I like.
Most often if we see result of the products we currently are using, we tend to discontinue using it hoping that the good effect will stay the same. But actually, continuing using the product will give more productive result for a longer period of time or a forever good result.
Try ACNEFREE and see the result for yourself!

SPONSORSHIP WITH CHRISTIAN FOUNDATION FOR CHILDREN AND AGING (CFCA)

One Sunday morning when me and my husband attended mass at Visitation Catholic Church, the invited priest who conducted the mass encouraged the Parishioners to open their hearts to help the poor through sponsorship. He told us that there were many children and older people from around the globe who needed help. He also added that if we are interested to sponsor someone we can fill up the form at the front door of the church after the mass.
Since my sister was a sponsored child in another reputable charity organization that still existed now when she was in elementary for probably 3 years but unfortunately lost her sponsorship for no valid reason (we figured out its political reason because a day when my sister was no longer a sponsored child, a child of a close relative of the leader in our area who handled/managed the sponsored children was being brought in). That was a big shocked for us when my sister came home one day from the meeting for all the sponsored children in our city crying and told us that she was no longer a sponsored child. The help we received from her sponsor really a big help in our family.
Although my sister received help from her sponsor for more or less three years but still we were very fortunate and thankful for her sponsor. For this reason I thought that maybe one day I can also help somebody that needed my help. Me and my husband don't have much financial resources but we have enough to at least extend our help by giving at least $30 a month for one sponsored child or aging person.
So, one day after the mass we immediately chose somebody to be sponsored. My husband asked me to choose which one we are going to sponsor. I told him that I wanted to sponsor somebody from the Philippines. So we chose a boy who is ten years old from a small town in Manila, Philippines who deserves for our help. He was born in a very poor family that merely relied on the father's income from fishing and planting vegetables in the backyard.
We started sponsoring this child since June of 2008. $30 is not that much for many people in those rich countries like the US but it makes a difference to those who live in third world countries or to the poor that did not have much. As a sponsor to this child, we also have responsibilities like sending our $30 monthly contribution to CFCA for our sponsored child, send him letters or cards once in a while and by any chance if we have time and money is to visit him personally.
Friends, if you have enough resources and is thinking of helping others, why not sponsoring a child or older people? If you wanted more information on how to sponsor please visit www.cfcausa.org. It really makes a big difference in your life and in the lives of others.

LOS ANGELES LAKERS VS. ORLANDO MAGIC....THE FINALS (Game 1)

The Game 1 for the NBA finals started tonight at the Staples Center between LA Lakers and the Orlando Magic. The Lakers beat the Magic for the final score of 100-75 lead by Kobe Bryant who scored 40 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assist, 2 steal and 2 blocks. The Lakers started dominating the game from the second quarter up to the last quarter with a double-digits lead.  Dwight Howard, Orlando's center only scored 12 points. Lakers defense was really amazing because every time Howard touched the ball he was then surrounded by two or three Lakers' players.
Heres the recap for tonight's game:
           1st Qrtr.   2nd Qrtr.   3rd Qrtr.  4th Qrtr.     Total

Magic        24             19               15             17          75
Lakers       22             31               29            18         100

Last year the Lakers were also in the finals against Boston Celtics but they got beaten. Because of what had happened they were motivated to win these finals.

MY VACATION TO THE PHILIPPINES

I was very excited when the day of my vacation has finally come. I already packed up my things two days earlier and the night before my flight to the Philippines, I rechecked my luggage for any possible things that I might forget to bring. I also counted how many hours I will be spending for this trip because I have an indirect flight and it amazed me that I will spend more than a day in order to reach my destination, Gingoog City, Philippines.
It was late when I arrived in our house. My family already knew that I will be visiting them but they did not know exactly when. I have a classmate since elementary up to college that also live in California and she is going with me for this trip in order to visit her family too. She already hired a van to pick us up in Cagayan de Oro airport and she told me that I can go with them because her family lived in Gingoog too and our house is probably more or less 7 minutes away from each other. In order to save money I decided not to bother asking my family to pick me up in CDO. Instead, I wanted to surprised them. Wheeewwww...they were really shocked when a van stop in front of our house at around 11:00 pm.  I really miss that place and those familiar faces. Since I came from halfway around the world, many said that I will be experienced jet lag but fortunately I slept soundly during my first night. It really feel good and comforting seeing those people that I used to be with before I moved here in the US almost 3 years ago.
Since I have only 12 days to be with my family, I wanted to spend most of my time to be with them. Two days after my arrival, we went to Cagayan de Oro city together with my sister and her Icelandic husband, my other sister and my father in order to get my niece's birth certificate to be used for here upcoming baptism (see my blog about...FIRST ADDITION IN THE FAMILY). We hired a van to take us to CDO because it was a long drive ranging from 5 to 6 hours(back and forth). Although it was a long day on the road but we have a great time talking about my life in the US and my family's life too while I was not there.
I chose to visit my family in the month of May because I wanted to be with them during our town fiesta on May 21-22. Fiesta is our celebration for the feast of our Patron Saint Rita. We prepared foods and invited friends, neighbors and relatives to come to our house for the said celebration. We did not prepare a lot because last year we invited many people but only few came and there were a lot of foods that got spoiled and so I decided to just prepare just enough. Unfortunately, many people came over. I was worried that our preparation was not enough. When the fiesta was over, I was happy that we were able to provide foods to all our visitors and in fact we have a little bit left over for the next day meal.
After the fiesta, another big celebration was coming. It was the baptism of Aimee Aslaug P. Gudmundsson, my one and only niece. She is so cute. She has grey eyes, fair complexion and by just the first look you can tell that she is a half-Filipina. I was late during the baptism ceremony because I helped for the food preparation but still I had enough time to take pictures though. After the ceremony, we went to the reception area at Dinah Beach Resort, Gingoog City. It was indeed a good day for Aimee as a new christian and for all of us.
For all the days thats left for my vacation, I went to the cemetery to visit my mom's grave, went to my bestfriend in college's house, bought things that I want to bring to the US, talk to neighbors and relatives, watch tagalog movies and soap operas, eat dried fish, eat kinilaw(raw fish with different spices), eat kwik-kwik (cook egg with cucumber, vinegar and edible seaweeds) and just spent most of my time with my family.
Time really runs so fast especially if you have a good time. I did not realize that I need to pack up my things again to go back to the US.  I felt so sad to leave my family again. I wanted to stay with them but somebody is waiting for me, my Husband and my Dog. If only my husband is willing to move in the Philippines but he can't take the weather. He said its too humid. So sad....I don't know when I can come back again to visit my family. Still I felt so lucky that I was able to see them because I know that there were many people around the world, separated because of wanting to give their family a better life and they don't have time nor enough money to visit them.
No matter what circumstances I might face in the future, I will always remember the memories I had while I was living in my hometown together with my family. I am happy here in the US but there were something missing. I know for sure that its all the people that I used to be with. I will be missing you Guys!
